Nia’s Six Month Milestone & Fall Family Session
I’m not sure which is better, getting to photograph a six-month milestone session in the studio or a beautiful fall family session at golden hour? Lucky for me, I got to do both for this sweet family. Nia is part of our first-year collective and getting to document all of her milestones- newborn, 3 months, and now 6 months, has truly been so much fun. These four feel like family at this point, which is arguably one of the best parts about being a photographer in Orange County!
Six Month Session in Studio
With the timing of Nia’s six-month session, Mom really wanted to make sure we took full advantage of this fun age! This meant not only documenting her milestones but also getting an updated sibling photo. Both kids have grown so much and I loved seeing how much their relationship has grown too. They are so sweet and know just how to make the other laugh!
In the studio, we opted to keep everything simple and neutral. Nia is wearing a little romper from the client closet and big brother just has on a simple white shirt. This way, the photos from this part of the session are cohesive with the outdoor session and her other milestone sessions.
Golden Hour Sunset
Because all of Nia’s sessions so far have been in my studio in Newport Beach, we wanted to change things up for their family photos. We headed outside to Newport Beach Back Bay and took advantage of the beautiful golden hour light.
The kids were playful and Nia’s smiles are the absolute best. With a little help from Mom, big brother held Nia for a photo and it’s by far one of my favorites. I have a feeling, it will be one Mom and Dad constantly look back on and reflect on this season and how quickly their two children have grown. It will be a photo they will share with them when they are older and talk about their childhood. So let this be your reminder that as much as we as parents want beautiful family photos, it goes much beyond that. It’s about our kids and the stories they will want to know one day!
Professional hair and makeup were provided for Mom. She also borrowed the soft blue dress she’s wearing from the client closet, and then we styled the rest of the family to add in a little color for their fall family photos!
