First Birthday Cake Smash | Corona Del Mar Photographer

You would think that after having my daughter and photographing so many babies as a Corona Del Mar newborn and family photographer, I’d not be so surprised by how quickly their first year goes. It feels like I was just photographing this sweet family’s maternity session in Huntington Beach, and now we are celebrating Izzy turning one with a first birthday cake smash in the studio.

Jacqueline and Kyle are the sweetest parents and I love getting to spend time with them during each session. If you missed her six-month milestone session, you can see that here. We started out Izzy’s one-year session with some family photos, where she and her big sister, Isla wore matching dresses. After taking a few family photos, Mom chose a beautiful dress for Izzy and put her hair in pigtail buns. I don’t know about you, but pigtails on little girls are just my favorite!

Much like her parents and big sister, Izzy is so sweet. She loved the stool and just kept laying her head down and smiling at me. Wait until you see her blue eyes- so pretty! After a few portraits, it was time for the cake and as always, this is the most exciting part about a first birthday photoshoot. Izzy was so curious, Isla was eager to help her and I was able to document some of the best cake smash photos for them all to enjoy for years to come.
