I can't believe we just photographed Nia's 9 month milestone session in the studio. As cliche’ as it is to say, it truly feels like she was just a tiny little newborn. To see her little personality bloom right in front of my lens and how much she is loved has been such a joy. It’s definitely going to be bittersweet once she graduates from the AWP Collective!

While documenting Nia’s first year, I’ve just come to absolutely adore this family. Mom, Dominique, is the sweetest and I feel like I am part of the family when we’re together. I knew when she told me her vision for Nia’s 9 month milestone session, I had to make it extra special for the two of them.

Mother-Daughter Session

Dominique envisioned a very feminine, girly portrait session. She wore a gorgeous sequin gown for the client wardrobe and bought Nia the most precious dress, which she ended up gifting to me. How sweet!

The timing could not have been more perfect either. I had just received the backdrop I’ll be using for our 2022 motherhood event and the colors, along with their dresses was so pretty. They snuggled, laughed, gave kisses, and made the sweetest memories together. Oh, and Nia was sure to show off her two bottom teeth as well!

Memories and Portraits

As both a Newport Beach photographer and mom, I KNOW just how fleeting that first year is. They change so fast and before you know it, memories and portraits are what you have of that season, which is something I know Dominique gets. It’s why she’s committed to documenting each stage of Nia’s first year and will continue to do annual family portraits in the future.

BUT…we aren’t just documenting those milestones, we’re printing them too.

We added a gorgeous statement frame from Nia’s 9 month milestone session to her nursery. It’s now the focal point of her room and absolutely stunning! We also added some of their favorite images from this session to Nia’s album, which we will finish up in just a few months after celebrating her first birthday!
